ENDYMA’s research installation on Helmut Lang

Helmut Lang | Book of Denim

One of the stops during our shoot in Athens was the fashion vault of Michael Kardamakis a.k.a. Endyma–who has the largest Helmut Lang archive in the world. Now, Kardamakis takes selected vintage garments to London (the city where it all started for him as an Art History student) for a pop-up installation at The Other Shop in London.

The installation is a research project to trace Helmut Lang’s work spanning two decades: each garment includes detailed info about the item’s context, production, and material. From clear blue transparent plastic classic 5-pocket pants to bondage bombers, and much more in Lang’s world of eccentric minimalism.

“You have to push things forward,” Helmut Lang once said. “I think people are going to be bored out of their minds if fashion goes back to the old ways of dressing up.” And that’s exactly why Endyma’s installation is worth checking out, now running till November 28th, hosted together with contemporary menswear showroom DMSR.
